Take a road trip to Manaoag this Holy Week

THE SHRINE ofOur Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag’s simple façade belies the site’s centuries-old history.

Five hours north of Manila lies the province of Pangasinan. Known for its delicious food—mangoes, boneless bangus and Calasiao puto—awe-inspiring beaches, marine parks and the Hundred Islands, Pangasinan is definitely a treasure trove for the senses. Most importantly, for the faithful Catholics, Pangasinan is also home to Our Lady of Manaoag.

The image, one of the most adored Marian icons in the country, is said to have miraculous powers. Everyday, people from all walks of life travel to this municipality in Pangasinan to hear Mass, pray the Rosary, offer flowers, light candles, and be in contact with the venerated image.

On any given day, visitors climb three levels from outside the church to go further into the mini-chapel inside to touch the image’s mantle.
