Even through the pandemic, Ballet Philippines (BP) still finds a way to keep dancing. The prestigious ballet institution is launching its 52nd season after announcing the world premiere of the last two productions of its 51st season, “Dystopian Body” and “Diyosa.”
With the announcement of quarantine restrictions last year, BP launched its online platform and successfully hosted the entire 51st season online, thanks to their patrons and the members of their community.
“Having adapted and integrated BP well to survive the lockdowns, closed stage, banned live shows makes me very proud of the dancers and executive staff who have demonstrated such awesome talents and fortitude,” shared BP president Kathleen Liechtenstein.
For its 52nd season, the company will feature even more online productions with a fresh repertoire, all while highlighting and paying homage to Mother Earth. Aside from the coming performances, the company will also offer more world-class training for the dancers through classes and free masterclasses from internationally renowned ballet superstars—all to be conducted online.
“The new season promises to be interesting. We are waiting for new meetings online, master classes, [and] lectures,” he said.
Dancers and ballet enthusiasts can expect masterclasses from the world-renowned Russian Vaganova Ballet Academy, as well as acting workshops based on the Stanislavsky system.
“I am confident that in the 52nd season, we will have many dance projects that will be created online during the period of non-stop pandemic and [these] will appear as video projects,” Martynyuk added.
