Rod Reyes and Vina Santiago Reyes met at the old Manila Times. He was a star reporter while she was secretary of the personnel manager. They were married on March 24, 1963, at Lourdes Church with the late Chino Roces as principal sponsor. They have two children; Theresa Alvarez and Jun Jun Reyes and six grandchildren.
Reyes served as Press Secretary of both President Fidel Ramos and President Joseph “Erap” Estrada. He made a name for himself in 1961 by posing as a dope addict to expose a drug den and won the Journalist of the Year Award, the TOYM, Presidential Award Medal from President Garcia and a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University.
The renewal of marriage vows was held at the grand ballroom of Acacia Hotel at Ayala Alabang. It was a joyful occasion with immediate family and friends in attendance.
