Knowing international etiquette and protocol is an advantage for professionals, businessmen, academicians, local executives, overseas workers and students taking up diplomacy, tourism and hospitality management as this would give them the skills and competence to deal with other nationalities.
Honorary Consul General Robert Lim Joseph has come out with a handbook, “Guide to Global VIPs,” with former foreign undersecretary Franklin Ebdalin.
The book will be launched on April 18, 6:30 p.m. at the New World Hotel in Makati City. Hotel general manager Farid Schoucair is hosting a cocktail reception in honor of Consul General Joseph.
The book contains the do’s and don’ts for foreign guests who will visit the country to make them feel at home and at ease. “For foreign guests, it’s something to help them appreciate local culture and customs,” Joseph said.
Joseph has been holding seminars and lectures on protocol in business and the academe over the past several years as honorary consul general of the Republic of Latvia to the Philippines.
Tackled in the handbook are etiquettes and protocols in such countries as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. It has also a section on Philippine protocol and culture.
