Now, that’s good news

CLASSIC-FIT shirt with a mix of quirky patterns

Independent brand Newspaper Boy is making waves, showcasing the country’s budding streetwear style.

Although boasting archaic inspirations (read: classic looks dating back to the ’30s), the brand’s philosophy is to take classic silhouettes and prints and inject them with modern elements.  Think batik prints infused with two-tone collar contrasts, or more classical silhouettes adorned with quirky buttons.

While mixing the old with the new, the brand gently nudges its consumers into remembering there is beauty in being playful and carefree. “That’s what we try to represent, through everything we do as a brand,” co-owner Paco Naguiat says.

When asked who they think a Newspaper Boy is, the owners say they do not try to limit their market by having age parameters, or define them through personality types.

WEAR these prints with attitude.

Being optimistic is what that icon encourages.

Newspaper Boy is also part of Platform Show III 4 p.m. on Saturday at M Café in Greenbelt. The event highlights Manila’s talented youth through 40 hand-selected independent brands. These fashion and lifestyle brands offer unique finds and represent the growing streetwear industry. Through this avenue for networking and exercising their business acumen, this new generation of Manila-shapers will only get stronger.
