Voter registration in MECQ areas now allowed again

Last Aug. 18, Comelec announced that it would not be extending the voter registration period, opting to keep it to the Sept. 30 deadline. This has posed problems considering areas of the country have been put under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Today, as the final month for registration rolls in, Comelec approved voter registration for areas under MECQ. Registration will be carried out from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in MECQ areas starting Sept. 6. Voter registration in malls will also be allowed.

Areas under general community quarantine and modified general community quarantine have voter registration days extended 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Saturdays and holidays.
