Renowned Manhattan-based Filipino architect and designer Daniel Romualdez is in the limelight again for his stunning work on designer Tory Burch’s new Southampton digs featured in the March issue of Vogue.

Writer Hamish Bowles describes the design as “the sort of house that Jay Gatsby might have built to bedazzle Daisy Buchanan and win her heart back again…”

The house, originally built as a 25-room mansion in 1929, has been made “as approachable as Tory is,” Romualdez said in the interview. Romualdez has also done two residences for Burch, now one of the world’s most famous American brand names, as well as most of her 64 stores worldwide, including her flagship store on Madison Avenue.

Romualdez joins an elite team of society collaborators on the house that includes decorator Eve Hood and landscape architect Perry Guillot.

Bowles pays particular tribute to “a Romualdez masterstroke” in the living room: “…windows were hung with grapefruit-pink curtains to warm the room’s diamond light.”
