Fully invested in the business of furthering international understanding, appreciation and mutual respect through the power of arts, Asian Cultural Council (ACC) marks its 60th anniversary and the 22nd year of ACC Philippines Foundation (ACCPF) with a series of fundraisers to benefit Filipino artists.
ACC commences a global celebration of its decadeslong mission, as envisioned by founder John D. Rockefeller III, in solidarity with its other Asian affiliate offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. For its part, ACCPF affirms its role in promoting and championing Filipino artistry by providing grants through the Philippine Fellowship Program, to help in the development of deserving artists, scholars, art educators and organizations.
For this advocacy, ACCPF trustees, led by chair Ernest L. Escaler and president Maribel Ongpin, actively spearhead annual fundraising campaigns and benefit events.
For its 2022 opening fundraiser this month, ACCPF is supported by BDO and Globe Telecom as it partners with Reality MM Studios and Globe Studios for the Philippine premiere of the film “On the Job: The Missing 8” at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Main Theater (Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo) on Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.
Directed by Erik Matti with screenplay by Filipina ACC fellow Michiko Yamamoto, the screening of the only Southeast Asian film that competed in the 78th Venice International Film Festival, celebrates world-class Filipino excellence and the rare honor of winning the Volpi Cup Best Actor award for John Arcilla.
On March 5, the brilliance of visual artists comes to the fore with the ACCPF Art Auction at León Gallery. Exquisite pieces from Filipino masters will be unveiled, along with outstanding works by young artists and contemporary art icons. It will be helmed by longtime ACCPF partner Jaime Ponce de León and his team.
Also up for bid are pieces by ACC alumni Dex Fernandez, Noel Cuizon, Don Salubayba, Anton del Castillo and Ambie Abaño.
Auction pieces may be viewed during a weeklong exhibit before auction day at León Gallery at Eurovilla 1, Rufino corner Legaspi Streets, Legaspi Village, Makati City, or at Leon-Gallery.com. Proceeds of the fundraising events will be used for the ACC Philippine Fellowship Program. Visit asianculturalcouncil.org.
