It’s not just the Korean drama and pop music wave that has reached the Philippine shores. Korean cosplayers as well have actually been flying in and out of the Philippines to attend established and prestigious cosplay events in the country.
While some would rather stay at home to avoid the scorching summer heat, passionate supporters of the anime-themed convention Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) still chose to brave the humid weekend weather last May 24 and 25 just so they could attend the event.
If you are an anime fan who feels irrelevant because you are in a circle that does not speak much otaku language, then you better step out of that cage and fly to where your feathers will find so much of its kind – not now though, because the event where they were just wrapped up.
As soon as my friends told me about the anime convention happening on the weekend of Jan. 21 at SM Megamall, I immediately made plans to be there, even if it meant swinging by in between my Suzuki piano lessons and my orthodontist appointment (and dragging my mom along).
