New Jersey-based Pinay jazz queen Annie Brazil is in Manila for her annual homecoming. Last time I watched her sing was when she turned 82 in October 2015 at an intimage gig in Makati.

Excitement filled the air one rainy night recently at Music Hall in Metrowalk, where a benefit gig called “MusiKaramay” was in progress. “There she is,” our companion told us, pointing to a corner in the club, “si Valerie Weigmann, Miss World Philippines.”
The chocolate truffle and gelato dessert at Solaire Resort and Casino’s Fresh restaurant gave us a nice kick while waiting for a special show featuring singer Annie Brazil at the hotel’s grand ballroom recently.
