Isabel Echevarria has been painting portraits since 1983, when she was very young. She now lives in the Canary Islands (an integral part of Spain) where she draws inspiration from its climate and clear skies.
THE CONSULAR CORPS of the Philippines-Cebu chapter held an induction of officers and appreciation night at Salon Barcelona of the Casino Español de Cebu. Inducting officer and guest speaker was Ambassador Francisco Benedicto.
CASINO ESPAÑOL de Cebu held its traditional costume ball on New Year’s Eve with a large group of revelers filling up Salon de España. Earlier, there had been a Mass officiated by Msgr. Achilles Dakay.
Isabel Echevarria opened a one-woman painting exhibit at the foyer of the Casino Español de Cebu as part of its Spanish Month celebration. Titled “Morena,” it depicted varied ethnic portraits which attracted art collectors. Isabel is currently based in the Canary Islands, Spain.
Spanish month at Casino Español de Cebu opened with a gala dinner at its ballroom, Salon de España, attended by Spain’s Ambassador Jorge Domecq. He recalled having been here for last year’s celebration. He took the opportunity to renew acquaintances.
Casino Español de Cebu held a Talents Night among members and dependents. It was a big hit of an evening. Held on Monday, May 21, the event expected 100, but 200 turned up at the Casino Salon de España.
It was a cool Sunday afternoon and many did forgo a prolonged siesta to attend a book launching at 2:30 p.m. at Salon Granada of the Casino Español de Cebu. Such a crowd could only be attained by celebrated Cebuano writer Cecilia “Baby” Manguerra Brainard with her ninth title, “Out of Cebu—Essays and Personal Prose.”
German Ambassador Dr. Joachim Heidorn recently visited Cebu with his wife Anna Maria and their little daughter Joana. This was their first visit to Cebu, as well as their first trip out of Manila, since their arrival in the Philippines last September.
The bachelors and Feminas Clubs of Cebu (BF) held their annual Innocents Day ball at the Casino Español de Cebu. It was a super elegant affair with a Venetian theme.
