A large and enthusiastic crowd attended the beauty pageant presented by the Cebu City Tourism Commission (CCTC) to select this year’s Miss Cebu, at the Pacific ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
Cebu has just concluded the annual festivities in honor of its revered Santo Niño. Millions trooped to the basilica for over a week in anticipation of the “Fiesta Señor,” as they call it here. Everything was splendidly coordinated by Rev. Fr. Jonas Mejares, OSA, rector of the basilica.
In 1984 the Cebu City Tourism Commission initiated the search for Miss Cebu Tourism. The beauty contest coincided with the city’s annual celebration of the Sinulog festival in honor of Santo Niño de Cebu.
