Katy Perry’s well-attended concert last Thursday at the Philippine Arena was largely a marriage of theater and dance music. But we’re not sure if the audience totally absorbed that vibe.
The DinagyangFestival has evolved from being a simple parish celebration to what is now one of the most prominent festivals in the country. Similarly, the types of activities lined up have also developed, only getting grander by the year. Last year, David Guetta and Alesso rocked the Mall of Asia Arena; earlier this year Swedish House Mafia made a stop in the Philippines for its One Last Tour; and next month Avicii will make his second visit to Manila.
It’s no coincidence that dance clubs have been opening everywhere, that the crowds have been getting bigger, that more and more world DJs have been coming to the Philippines to perform, or that music festivals are becoming more frequent even outside Manila.
