In early 1991, I met Fr. James Reuter’s group in Manila at a rehearsal of their production, “400 Years in 40 Minutes.” This group was scheduled to go to the International Youth Festival in Rome later that year, and on the way to Rome they wanted to make side trips to some US cities including New York.
It was June 18, 2011, when I was commissioned to photograph Fr. James Reuter at the Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Parañaque City, where he had retired and was receiving hospice care. It was for an Asian Eye Institute photo exhibit. For the shoot, he was brought out by a caregiver to the hospital chapel.
There was such interest in my column on Fr. James Reuter that I had to rack my brain trying to remember more stories, but I must be “low batt” as it doesn’t seem to respond.
