Earlier this year, excitement greeted Tanghalang Ateneo’s (TA) staging of Edgar Samar’s young adult series, “Si Janus Silang at ang Tiyanak ng Tabon.”
An old man wearing the salakot enters the stage, warning others not to fall prey to the machinations of the tiyanak. A kapre smokes his cigar. The manananggal flaps her wings with her entrails hanging. And the bungisngis leers down the audience who are horrified at the dark creatures of Philippine folklore.
Madaling nakíta ni Renzo si Mica sa labas ng gate ng St. Michael’s. Wala masyadong tao sa kalsada dahil kinabukasan lang ng Pasko. Mangilan-ngilan lang ang traysikel at kotseng dumaraan. Puyat pa ang maraming tao dahil sa mga selebrasyon. Pero ang mga bagani at si Renzo, wala pa halos tulog dahil sa mga nangyari sa Angono.
