“THE APARTMENT,” the iconic Onib Olmedo painting generally regarded by critics as one of the late artist’s masterpieces, is the main attraction at the Leon Gallery auction on Feb. 20.
Leon Gallery (G/F, Corinthian Bldg., Legaspi Village, Makati City; tel. 8467416) recently held a successful auction, a liquidation of the artworks owned by Prudentialife Plans, Inc., initiated by the Philippine Insurance Commission. All 55 lots sold, almost all reaching the hammer price several times higher than their starting bid price.
