Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion Foundation and the Intramuros Administration will hold its 35th Grand Marian Procession today, Dec. 7, 4 p.m., after the 2 p.m. Hermanas Mayores Mass at the Manila Cathedral Basilica. The Mass will be officiated by Bishop Bernardino Cortes, DD.
The Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion holds its 33rd grand Marian procession on Dec. 1, Sunday, 4 p.m.
The traditional Marian procession in honor of Our Lady of the Visitation of Guibang will be held on July 1, Monday, after the 5:30 p.m. Mass, with the Philippine Army Band of the 5th Infantry Division in Upi, Gamu, playing.
Due to the elevation of Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle to the cardinalate, the 25th Eucharistic Congress where he’s one of the speakers has been rescheduled. The new date will be announced soon.
For the first time, the grand Marian procession in Intramuros was marred by rains. On Dec. 4, rains fell on people setting up the “carrozas” inside Fort Santiago. Devotees who had brought their images as far as Isabela and Piat, Cagayan, covered their images with tarpaulins.
From the six images that initially made up the first Marian procession of the Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion in December, 1980, the procession has grown through the years.
