American R&B/hip hop singer-songwriter Chris Brown is “willing to refund his talent fee” for failing to show up at the New Year’s Eve countdown concert at the Philippine Arena last Dec. 31, Mike Pio Roda, the talent agent who negotiated the artist’s contract, told Inquirer Lifestyle.
It wouldn’t hurt for music fans with nowhere to go on New Year’s Eve to check out the two-night events happening on Dec. 30 and 31 at Ciudad de Victoria, described as “a 140-hectare tourism enterprise zone in the towns of Bocaue and Sta. Maria in Bulacan”—where sits the Philippine Arena and, beside it, the Philippine Sports Stadium.
The colossal, 55,000-capacity Philippine Arena will have its first concert on Dec. 31 featuring American R&B/hip-hop artist Chris Brown. This was supposed to be a grand New Year’s Eve party that would have paired him with another American, a female singer-songwriter also known for her dancing skills—but the deal did not push through.
It’s so easy to get to the Philippine Arena. Though its location, Bocaue, Bulacan, sounds far away, it actually took us less than 30 minutes to reach via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) from Quezon City. Built from funds of the congregation of the Iglesia ni Cristo and situated in a 140-hectare tourism zone called Ciudad de Victoria, the Philippine Arena has its own exit gate from NLEx, right after the Marilao exit.
Leading South Korean construction company Hanwha Engineering and Construction (Hanwha E&C) said that it has completed building the Iglesia ni Cristo-owned Philippine Arena, which is said to be “the world’s biggest domed performance hall.”
