MANILA, Philippines — Over a thousand children learned the importance of fairness and sharing from the stories told in this year’s first session of Inquirer Read-Along held at Calvario
Tales of selflessness and humility were told to some 100 children during the Inquirer Read-Along session on Saturday morning at the Inquirer office in Makati to celebrate love for country this love month.
It was a magical morning for some 500 children who were treated to tales of determination and sharing brought to life by their favorite fictional characters during Friday’s Inquirer Read-Along in Meycauayan City.
The young listeners giggled everytime British Ambassador Asif Ahmad did his ant voice when he read Angelita Aragon’s “Ang Magkaibigan,” a story of friendship between an ant and a dove. “Whenever you read to children, it’s always very honest,” the ambassador said.
It’s not easy to convince children to choose vegetables and fruits over sweets and junk food, but storytelling definitely helps.
We can be heroes through a strong will and determination to change the world—and even ourselves—for the better. Actor Derek Ramsay and Sophia School principal Ann Abacan stressed this point as they read to 65 kids stories about heroic acts of courage and humility at the Inquirer Read-Along session on Saturday.
