Superstar Sting and amazing musician Chris Botti thrilled a packed house in a recent concert at the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel Manila.
LIKE Madonna’s two-night concerts last week, Chris Botti’s coming gig with Sting on March 3 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom has pricey tickets. That’s understandable, considering you’ll be watching two major artists in one show.
Actress and producer Trudie Styler, the better half of pop singer Sting, will star this fall in a new off-Broadway adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull.”
“You could say I’d lost my belief in our politicians,” Sting’s voice boomed, wryly drawing out the last syllable, and the mostly Filipino audience half whooped, half snickered in response. Tongue in cheek, I sang the next line, “They all seemed like game show hosts to me,” along with the singer, wondering if the song hit a little too close to home for certain civil servants in the audience.
There are just no words to describe the utter madness that is the month of October. After Keane, Steve Aoki, Foster the People, James Morrison, David Guetta, and Wilson Phillips took Manila by storm in the last two weeks alone, expect another wave of rock, pop, metal, and old-school concerts to practically overlap each other for the rest of the fourth quarter. The October onslaught spills into November with dance-pop and alternative acts before ending with a big bang via the back-to-back golden greats in December.
