Samsung president helps pack goods, after mobilizing staff
After “Yolanda” tore through Tacloban, Samsung (Sepco) president and managing director CL Lee mobilized employees to help those affected by the supertyphoon. He was also instrumental in the $1-million donation by Samsung Global: $250,000 went to World Vision, $250,000 went to the Philippine National Red Cross while $500,000 was given to the ABS-CBN Foundation.

The Filipino people’s resilience was put to the test yet again. Supertyphoon “Yolanda,” the strongest typhoon in history, had a total of six landfalls in the geographic midsection of the Philippines, leaving devastation in its wake.

A picture may say a thousand words, but there are no adjectives to describe the widespread destruction wrought by Supertyphoon “Yolanda” last week in the Visayan region. Every image seems more heartbreaking than the last: houses and buildings crumpled to nothingness; refugees cramped inside crowded shelters; a father carrying the body of his lifeless child; and a woman giving birth in a refugee center.
