The heirs of poets and writers Abelardo and Trinidad Tarrosa Subido are calling for the creation of an art loss registry to curb the illicit trade in art and cultural property that, they said, was behind the “unauthorized sale” of an artwork stolen from their family, a painting by Filipino National Artist Hernando R. Ocampo.
“It started as a joke,” said Ramon Villegas in his opening remarks, referring to the title of the show, now on view at Ayala Museum.
Opening last June 18 at the Ayala Museum is “The Real H.R. Ocampo,” as part of its “Images of Nation” Series. The series focuses on each of our National Artists and how their artistic achievements reflect our character as a people and our aspirations as a nation.
