We were extremely excited when we found out that Juvenal Sansó was coming to Cebu. We’ve heard so much about the world-renowned, multiawarded living art legend—that it seemed as surreal as his bright, dreamlike landscapes that he would actually hold an exhibit of his personal collection at Qube Gallery’s first anniversary and grace the affair.
Headless figures and wild horses, roiling in chaos, seemed to express the human condition with violent directness. Titled “U-Turn,” this monochromatic mural, an allusion to the Apocalypse, became a turning point for artist Antonio “Tony” Leaño. It won him first prize in the first Metrobank Foundation National Painting Competition in 1988.
Now Gallery opened its doors recently with a joint exhibit of works by Rock Drilon, Norberto “Lito” Carating and Nestor Olarte Vinluan, all artists who have been at the forefront
