Red Charity Gala 2014 to showcase Jesus Lloren

THE RED CharityGala features the immaculate workmanship of Jesus Lloren to raise funds for Philippine Red Cross and Assumption High School Batch 1981 Foundation.

A big fashion event organized by society icon and Inquirer Lifestyle columnist Tessa Prieto-Valdes and philanthropist Kaye Tiñga will be held Oct. 18 at the Rizal Ballroom of Makati Shangri-La.

As in past years, it will be for the benefit of Philippine Red Cross and Assumption High School Batch 1981 Foundation.

This year’s featured designer is Jesus Lloren, who’s known for his elegant design, impeccable craftsmanship and astute construction.

Lloren studied Clothing Technology at University of the Philippines, but his aesthetics was enriched by a scholarship at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de La Couture Parisienne. Yves Saint Laurent, Issey Miyake, Valentino Garavani, among others, were members of the Syndicale.

Lloren bagged the scholarship when he won in the Philippine Young Designers Competition held in Manila and in the Concours International des Jeunes Createurs de Mode in Paris.

Since his exposure to French couture, Lloren worked his way to prominence in the fashion industry. His style is often described as architectural, more adventurous and daring without compromising comfort and sophistication.

Lloren loves teaching and helping shape future leaders in fashion. To him, teaching is the greatest form of giving back.

More than that, he aims to help bring Filipino design to a global level.

He was a mentor in “Project Runway Philippines” from its first episode in 2008 to its third season in 2012. He was also president of Young Designers Guild and   Fashion Design Council of the Philippines.

The Red Charity Gala is directed by Ariel Lozada, with fashion styling by Noel Manapat, and hair and makeup by Patrick Rosas.
