How I relax: We’re so blessed to have made a home in Northern California. The Bay Area is such a wonderful place to live. You can drive for an hour in any direction and you’ll see something different (beaches, woods, mountains, lakes, wine country, etc). But lounging at home with the family is the ultimate way for me to relax.
Interesting hobbies and obsessions: I’ve just recently looked into getting into drawing/illustrations. The discipline, focus and creativity of doing graphic illustration fascinates me to no end.
The thing I love the most about living in California: Raising my family. And the weather.
What I miss the most about the Philippines: My parents and my best friends.
Favorite way to connect with loved ones back home: FaceTime
Five things I can’t live without: iPhone, watch, Cathy, Lucas, high-speed Internet—not necessarily in that order.
Favorite website: I go through RSS feeds of different websites to get my dose of the Internet. But I like to end the day going through devour.com. Also, kottke.org.
Favorite app: Instagram
When friends visit, I take them to… Half Moon Bay.
Favorite restaurants: Satomi Sushi, Oren’s Hummus, Chairman Bao food truck (pork belly bun), 3-Zero Cafe (brunch), Philz Coffee
Favorite cheap thrill: Walking through Apple Store, Nike Store, parks
Favorite thing to do on weekdays: Hitting the snooze button.
Favorite thing to do on weekends: Not having to hit the snooze button.
Favorite places for shopping: Amazon.com
Where I go for a dose of culture: Walking around San Francisco. California Academy of Sciences, De Young Museum and Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park
Favorite hangout: Golden Gate Park, Half Moon Bay
One secret you wish you can tell tourists: Not really a secret, but forget about traditional rent-a-car services and taxis when visiting The Bay. The Bay Area is the breeding ground of disruptive services like Getaround, Uber, Lyft, Zipcar, City Car Share, etc.
Any other secrets about your city that you want to share? There are a lot of things to do, but choose one thing and do it all day. Enjoy the experience without having to worry about time.
