Nung 12 years old ako, my parents sent me to Manila to study. Simple lang ‘yung buhay sa Nueva Ecija kaya na-culture shock ako pagdating ko dito.
Nahirapan akong mag-adjust lalo na nung pumasok ako sa high school. Hindi kasi ako magaling mag-English noon. I was bullied a lot kaya naisip kong bumalik na lang sa probinsya para wala na akong problema. But I chose to stay and push myself because I didn’t want to let my parents down. Tinapangan ko ang ng loob ko, sumali pa ako sa debate team, because I wanted to improve my English speaking skills and focus on keeping my grades up.
Nung college graduation ko na-realize na ang laki na ng inimprove ko, not only academically, but in terms of character. Dati, pag class recitation, nahihiya ako magsalita sa harap ng class. Pero that day, I had the confidence to get up on stage, face the student body—my batch mates to deliver a speech as Summa Cum Laude.

When I was 12, my parents sent me to Manila to study. My life was simple back in the province, in Nueva Ecija, that’s why I experienced a bit of a culture shock when I arrived here.
I had difficulties adjusting, especially when I entered high school. I wasn’t good in English at the time. I was bullied a lot that’s why I thought of returning to the province so I can get back to my problem-free life. But I chose to say and push myself because I didn’t want to let my parents down. I summoned every ounce of courage I can, I even joined a debate team, because I wanted to improve my English speaking skills and focus on keeping my grades up.
During my college graduation I realized that I have improved a lot, not academically, but in terms of character. Before, during class recitations, I get shy. But during graduation, I had the courage to get up on stage, face the student body—my batch mates to deliver a speech as Summa Cum Laude. ADVT
