Other ways of knowing about your past lives

A 45-year-old woman, who feels no growth and fulfillment in both her job and personal life, sent in the following questions:

“I have always been interested in your field of expertise, from the time I started reading your articles on past lives, spirituality, etc.

“I am intrigued about past life hypnotic regression, but scared to undergo it. Is there another way to know my past life, something that I can do by myself?

“I’ve been trying to activate my subconscious mind, but more often would fall asleep. I am trying to get back my self-confidence. Am I still bound to my past hurts and trauma?  How do I get out of being stuck?”

Past life hypnotic regression is a relatively safe process in the hands of a trained and competent hypnotherapist. But it is not the only method of knowing one’s past lives. Among the less known ways or methods are:

Spontaneous recall—This is not really a method, but a way of observing spontaneous memories of past lives.  For example, in India, a woman named Shanti Devi, at the age of five, recalled details of her past life in a village far from where she lived at the time, her family and how she died giving birth to her second child.

She described her husband, her labor pains and other personal circumstances in detail. Such information was later verified to be correct by the late psychiatrist Dr. Ian Stevenson of the University of Virginia.

The child was never exposed to concepts of past lives or the process of childbirth. There are many other examples of spontaneous recall of past lives in Stevenson’s book, “Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation.”

Slave

Déja vu —This refers to the experience of being in a place you have not been to, and yet looks so familiar to you, as if you had seen it before. Such experiences could be indicative of past life memories.

For example, a certain Christian pastor named Rev. Emery was touring Egypt with some friends when he vividly recalled his past life as a slave involved in the building of the great pyramid while he was climbing it during this tour. After that consciousness-altering experience, Rev. Emery began to believe in reincarnation, which was contrary to his religion’s teachings.

Dreams may also indicate who you were in the past. If you dream of living in a previous era, speaking in a foreign language, or wearing unfamiliar clothing, you may be dreaming of a past life. Try to recall if you have had such dreams.

The Mirror Technique is another simple method of knowing your past lives. At midnight, when everybody in your home is asleep, dim the light, sit in front of a large mirror and relax. Then, looking at your face in the mirror, say silently to yourself. “Show me the face that this soul has worn.” Watch your face change fast or slowly. If you’re a woman, you may see your face change into a man and vice versa. Don’t be afraid, keep calm. You are looking at who you were in your past life.

Another reader, a 33-year-old real estate broker and video producer, has been suffering from anxiety disorders since age 12 and wanted to know if past life regression (PLR) can help him.

“Would you recommend this to anxiety disorder patients? What are the risks, if any?

“Where do you hold your session? Will I undergo consultation or assessment first before undergoing the process?

“I have consulted several psychiatrists, including my sister, who is a psychiatrist.”

If you have been under psychiatric treatment, I require a clearance from your psychiatrist before I let you undergo a past life hypnotic regression.

And yes, you will have to be assessed or evaluated first before a past life regression is undertaken.

Not all of our present life problems can be traced to a past life experience. Some problems are a result of present life causes. I have handled several such cases both in the Philippines and in Poland.

I hold PLR sessions in my office at Prince Plaza 1 Condominium, Legazpi St., Legazpi Village, Makati City. Call tel. no. 8107245 for an appointment or for more details. The next Basic ESP seminar will be on Aug. 22 and 23.
