Newly resigned Miss Earth-Philippines 2016 Imelda Schweighart posted a string of screenshots of her Facebook Messenger conversation with designer Leo Almodal about the controversial yellow evening gown she said she was supposed to wear for the pageant.
The Filipino-German beauty claimed that the pageant gown designed by Almodal was custom-fit for her and added that she contributed the bra padding of the masterpiece’s bust section.
As seen in the series of screenshots, Almodal offered the stunning garb to Schweighart last August. He shared raw sketches of the gown for her to see.
The country’s bet to the prestigious homegrown beauty pageant didn’t make it to the semifinals cut. Hence, the yellow gown was entrusted to Miss Ecuador Katherine Espin, who was crowned this year’s Miss Earth. Miss Guam-Earth candidate Gloria Nelson gracously lent Schweighart a spare gown.
Schweighart, who relinquished her Miss Earth duties to “join her mother on an overseas trip,” was embroiled in other controversies arising from her statements, including what she told Miss Austria Kimberly Budinsky in a Facebook Live video that President Rodrigo Duterte “is doing Hitler stuff” in the country. She was also bashed online for her pungent remarks about Espin, whom she insisted had undergone surgery to enhance parts of her body. Gianna Francesca Catolico
