For Japanese tourists looking for something a little different, a certain cruise ship that tours Tokyo Bay could be the thing for you.
Fashioned after seafaring vessels from the Edo Period (1603-1868), the samurai-themed cruise ship “Atakemaru” offers a rather unique day cruise of Tokyo Bay, reports The Japan Times.
For day cruises, guests will be treated to scenic views, while evening tours offer dinner and traditional stage performances.
In consideration to foreign tourists, the ship is equipped with chairs instead of Japan’s typical floor-based seating arrangement.
The cruise operator aims to raise customer numbers before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Beginning this summer, parties will be held with participants wearing kimono. Special cruises will also be offered on January 1, 2018 to watch the first sunrise of the new year. Alfred Bayle/JB
