National Geographic, Anthony Bourdain big winners at 2018 Webby Awards for travel

National Geographic, mobile travel app Hopper and Anthony Bourdain are a few of the big winners in this year’s Webby Awards for travel.

Globetrotters looking for online inspiration may want to check out this year’s winners, which represent the best of digital content. Winners are awarded by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, made up of more than 2,000 industry experts and technology innovators.

Under “web,” in the subcategory of “travel,” National Geographic beat fellow nominees Lonely Planet and Travel and Leisure to take the title of best travel website of 2018.

NatGeo was also named the inaugural Media Company of the Year.

The People’s Voice award went to Atlas Obscura.

In the category of “online film and video,” the Webby went to “Ghosts of the Arctic, a 4K film documenting polar bears in the Arctic.

The People’s Voice award in the same category went to Anthony Bourdain’s “Explore Parts Unknown: Return to Catalunya”.

And in the category of mobile, flight search app Hopper took both the Webby and People’s Voice awards.
