When planning an event, one must think of every possible contingency plan, especially when the elements are involved. When it comes to outdoor fashion shows, French fashion house Louis Vuitton leaves nothing to chance.
In the past few years, Louis Vuitton has been selecting scenic spots to hold fashion shows, providing a refreshing atmosphere of fresh air and sunlight to VIP guests and models — but at the same time, running the risk of unfavorable weather conditions.
Past venues have been the Miho Museum near Kyoto and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rio de Janeiro.
This year, it chose the Fondation Maeght, a French museum sitting on a hill, overlooking the town of Saint-Paul de Vence in the French Riviera.
Stars such as Emma Stone, Sienna Miller, Justin Theroux, Jennifer Connelly and Sophie Turner were in attendance during the show held Monday, May 28.
The Guardian reports that the house brought in a shaman to ensure that none of its luxury pieces or high-profile guests would be drenched in an unwanted downpour. A shaman, which literally means “spiritual healer,” is an individual who connects with the spirit world.
According to Vogue Runway, the hired shaman comes from Brazil, only in a private jet and for a hefty six-figure sum.
The shaman’s work has thus far been effective: grey skies hovered over the show, finally unleashing a torrent of rain 30 minutes after it was over. The same one allegedly kept skies clear during the royal wedding last Saturday, May 19.
Incidentally, Dior’s Cruise 2019 show last Friday, May 25, was also held outdoors in Paris, and though guests were comfortable in the shade, models had to strut under pouring rain. Niña V. Guno/JB
