Luck wasn’t on the side of this man in Florida who tried to prevent his pickup from being repossessed. Unfortunately, his pickup truck had already been tied to a tow truck.
Yohanys Lopez, 31, was arrested and charged with grand theft and criminal mischief, CBS Miami reported on Sept. 14.
The report stated that Lopez was overdue on his payments. On the day his pickup would be towed away, he asked the tow truck driver if he could just retrieve some of his items.
Lopez then decided to make a run for it by riding his truck and speed off, but realized that he was unlucky when it was already tied and ready to be seized.
“The owner must’ve realized that he had an opportunity to hop in,” Rigo Herrera from Specialized Towing said. [S]o he hopped into the car at which time our agent gets out of the truck, approaches him and he acts like he’s not going to do anything.”
He added that he has not seen anything like this in his 23 years in the business. “Things like this happen that just don’t happen all the time and definitely not to that extreme,” he said. Katrina Hallare /ra
