As the 24-year-old beauty queen carries out her duties as Miss Universe, she must of course receive compensation and privileges in exchange for doing her job. For starters, Gray can get to wear the prestigious phoenix crown, designed by Mikimoto & Co., Ltd.

The crown is made of yellow and white gold, and has a seven-feather design inspired by the Fenghuang phoenix. It is reportedly priced at $250,000 or P13.2 million.

However, like previous Miss Universe winners before her, Gray cannot bring home the crown as this was only lent to her by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO). She will relinquish her crown by the time she gets to pass it on to her successor.

As of writing, the organization has yet to reveal Gray’s official prizes as the titleholder. But based on reports about past winners such Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Iris Mittenaere and Pia Wurtzbach, they all enjoyed a year-long, undisclosed salary.

Aside from this, the Miss Universe titleholder will avail of luxurious accommodations in a New York apartment, which includes living expenses, as previously announced in the Miss Universe website during the win of Mittenaere in 2016. The winner will also receive a full-shoe wardrobe from Chinese Laundry shoes and accessories, as reported by Arab-based media The National.

Other prizes are a year’s supply of makeup and hair products, a modeling portfolio shot by leading photographers, professional health and nutrition consultations, extensive travel sponsorship and support from charitable partners, professional representation by the MUO, and personal styling and wardrobe by the MUO stylists.

Prizes and perks aside, Gray is sure to reap even more rewards in the coming years for her remarkable feat. JB
