A family in Cardiff, Wales, never thought a generous cop would bring them Christmas cheer this year.
Midwife Rhiannon Williams shared that an unidentified South Wales police officer picked up a family who got stranded, while on the M4 motorway.
“On arriving at their address, she realized this family had very little and the [three] small children weren’t going to be getting much of a Christmas at all,” Williams wrote about what happened in a Facebook post Monday, Dec. 24. “So she thought she’d do something about that.”
To help, the store manager said they would match whatever the officer bought so that the family could receive more. “Was a really lush moment,” Williams said in her post.
“[S]he spent her own money to give them a bit of a surprise, which I thought was really sweet – it was a lovely token of humanity,” Williams told the BBC about what she saw.
The South Wales Police (SWP) then posted their own photo via Facebook on the same day, showing the officers carrying gifts. It read that the store contacted them so they could give more presents for the family — and they did not hesitate to help out.
“These gifts including all the ingredients for the best Christmas dinner will be delivered by SWP officers this evening!” the SWP’s post read.
“Times are getting harder, but the harder it is the more I see people helping people,” Williams added. “And it gives me a little glimmer of hope in these messed up times.” Katrina Hallare/JB
