A Filipino freelance model has apologized after her outfit during a trip to Singapore earned the ire and criticism of some Singaporeans online.

Photos of Ashley Garcia, the model in question, were taken without her consent while she was in line at a Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) ATM at Somerset MRT Station.

In the photos, Garcia can be seen wearing a thin, light pink tank top that covered her shorts. These photos were shared on social media on Saturday, Feb. 9, as per Lianhe Wanbao via the Straits Times Online Mobile Print (STOMP) on Feb. 11.

Garcia has since taken to social media to apologize about her outfit, saying she did not have any malicious intentions.

“Yes, this was me waiting in the ATM queue. I was not aware that somebody took a photo of me (I don’t personally know his purpose),” she wrote on Facebook last Feb. 12.

“I apologize if I offended any culture on this outfit, but, please understand that I do not have any obscene or malicious intention by wearing it. I am sorry if you think that this was an ‘indecent exposure’ but, it was not my intention.”

Garcia further shared that she has been bullied, shamed and threatened online by many people after her photos surfaced on social media. She also clarified she was wearing shorts and nipple tape under her tank top at the time.

“To those people who are already hitting me below the belt and criticizing me of something, I respect you. You are already telling things which are too personal that is already outside of what you see in the picture,” she said.

“I was already cyber shamed, bullied and threatened by several people because of this,” she added. “PS. I was wearing shorts and nipple tapes that time.”

Garcia hopes that whoever shared her photos online would step forward and “apologize publicly,” as per STOMP’s latest report on Feb. 12.  Cody Cepeda /ra
