BEAUTY REPORT: Serums, sunscreen, and superheroes this October

Stop. Don’t just scroll mindlessly through this. We know that you’ve been doing that on your shopping apps. We know you’re scrolling through in search of what else you need to buy before you click “Checkout.” It’s not like we’re not doing the same thing.

We did take a pause, of course. October is not even the full swing of pre-holiday launches, but it can get confusing. That’s why we’ve created this list to point out the newest drops for the month and how you can integrate them into your life seamlessly—no buyer’s remorse from these.

Maybelline Limited Collections

This month, Maybelline offers two limited-edition collections. The first one is the Marvel x Maybelline collaboration. It features Marvel emblems on the hero products of the brand: Instant Age Rewind Concealer and the SuperStay Matte Ink in “Ruler,” “Lover,” “Groundbreaker,” “Versatile,” and “Pioneer.” Get your hands on it exclusively via Shopee.

The other drop is the SuperStay Matte Ink Coffee Edition. I instantly loved these five shades as someone who prefers nude and brown lipsticks. The shade selection matches a wide range of skin tones and features a coffee-infused scent without compromising the lasting, mask-proof formula. Launching on Oct. 8 via Lazada.

Ellana Mineral Cosmetics Glass-C Skin Brightening Serum

With the number of serums that come out every other month, you’re bound to find that one that seems customized to your needs. Ellana Minerals launched many new skincare products recently, including this serum that’s made for those who are pursuing that “glass skin” look. It contains 74.6% seaberry extract, 15% ascorbic acid, and niacinamide to address hyperpigmentation and skin blemishes. Lavender and chamomile are blended in so your skin won’t be irritated from the highly-potent ingredients. Shop for this on their website.

Neutrogena Rainbath Shower and Bath Gel

Never doubt US beauty influencers’ power and how they can create hype over the most everyday products. The love for this shower and bath gel crossed the seas to get to the Philippines, becoming one of Neutrogena’s most requested launches. Now that it’s here, we can enjoy these pH-balanced bath time buddies that come in three variants: Refreshing with Original Scent, Renewing with Pear and Green Tea, and Replenishing with Ocean Mist.

L’Oreal Blooming Kisses by Color Riche Mattes

Who doesn’t have a classic tube of L’Oreal Colour Riche in their beauty arsenal? You always get the signature smooth texture that’s comfortable and non-drying. For this launch, you get six rose shades. What do you need it for? It’s for those of us who aren’t fans of red lipstick but understand how these bloom-inspired tones work well on video calls.

Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Skincare Milk – Gold Series

Before receiving a press gift from Anessa for their Philippine launch, I’ve never tried the product. I’ve only heard of it through stories: Japan trips are made so this could be bought in bulk. The Milk formula feels similar to putting on your favorite lightweight moisturizer. The smell isn’t overpowering; the way it dries on the skin isn’t sticky or greasy at all. Results back up the raves.

The label takes its name from the Japanese word “nessa,” which means “hot sand,” hinting to its UV Protection Veil that becomes stronger with sweat and water. Add this to your cart via Lazada now, and by the end of October, you can also get it via Watsons and The SM Store Beauty Section.

Colourette Cosmetics ColourGlaze

Unlike matte lipsticks, I don’t trust every brand easily when it comes to lip gloss. This is why my favorites are Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb and Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer. You can then imagine how impressed I am that local brand Colourette Cosmetics came out with ColourGlaze. The glosses don’t feel heavy and gummy on the lips. The colored variants (Sundown, Blanket, Serotonin) are pigmented enough that you don’t need a thick layer. The clear variant Blanket is a perfect lipstick topper or on its own, if you want just that plumping effect.
