QUICK QUIP: Mimiyuuuh on overcoming insecurity and her definition of success

How did Mimiyuuuh become the star that she is now? We’ve seen her on various commercials, Live features, and magazine covers at this point. She’s been tagged on hype Instagram accounts, slowly becoming a cultural touchpoint. And it’s just been two years since she went viral on social media.

A little recap: In 2019, Mimiyuuuh participated in the Dalagang Pilipina challenge. It got thousands of likes and reshares, so we got sucked into watching more of her videos that are pure fun. One must also credit her great dancing skills. If you think about it, any #tiktokchallenge has got nothing on Mimiyuuuh, who made a club out of her room and that pink plastic cabinet. A couple of hosting gigs, fashion collaborations through her own brand, and a Wikipedia page later, Mimiyuuuh is just about everywhere.

She proves that you’ll go very far if you can make people laugh, relate to what they’re going through, and take joy in being genuinely yourself.

It sounds like a formula, but that’s not the case as you can sense Mimiyuuuh’s personality and sincerity all the time. As I crafted this Q&A, I read the answers in Mimiyuuuh’s voice, especially in the parts I couldn’t translate to English. You’ll see what I mean as you scroll down.

In this quick-fire interview, we look forward to 2021 as Mimiyuuuh kicks it off in a huge way. She joins Kathryn Bernardo and SB19 as one of the endorsers of online favorite Lazada.

What are the five essentials a wanna-be vlogger/influencer should have?

Ring light, tripod, a nice phone, lapel mic, and cute clothes.

What was your biggest insecurity? How did you overcome it?

Dati po nung bata ako, yung ngipin ko po pero as I get older, I realized na yung mga imperfections ko make me unique. (When I was young, it was my teeth, but as I get older, I realized that my imperfections make me unique.)

If you can only add five things to your shopping cart for the year, what would they be?

Air fryer, vacuum, a cute pair of jeans, a great speaker, and an air purifier.

What’s your biggest wish for 2021?

That people find their way to success and growth.

Who are the best people you’ve met in the industry?

Parang lahat naman po ng naka-work ko okay po ako pero sobrang elibs po ako on how hardworking and passionate SB19 is. Walang reklamo po, they always give the best! (It seems like everyone I’ve worked with is okay, but I admire how hardworking and passionate SB19 is. No complaints, they always give the best!)

Who’s an influencer you admire?

I admire Bretman Rock. He’s very vocal about relevant issues, and I like how he lives his life.

What’s one question you want to ask your favorite celebrity?

Ay, kay Kathryn po, ano po ang feeling ng jowa si Daniel? Kasi super crush ko po ngayon si Daniel. HAIXT!! To be Kathryn for a day. SOBRANG BAGAY SILAAAA!!! SANA ALL!! XHNZ!!

(Oh, to Kathryn, what does it feel like to have Daniel as a boyfriend? Because I have a super crush on Daniel now.)

How would you define success?

There are different kinds of success, but getting what I want and need and giving back to my family is success for me.
