Heart Evangelista on overcoming doubt and letdowns: “In the end, it’s all going to make sense.”

It’s easy to be fooled that everyone has their act together. This is true when you’re in an Instagram Stories rabbit hole and spot people like Heart Evangelista.

The actress, artist, and influencer lives a life that put #blessed into retirement. One day, she’s opening gifts from luxury labels like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Dior. Next, you’ll see her on YouTube playing with makeup from Tom Ford, Perfect Diary, and Happy Skin.

If not on that, she’s doing her endorsements from bed mattresses to corned beef and your favorite pancit canton. Nothing is slowing down Heart. She makes us go  “She’s so lucky” every time we hit the “Save” tab.

As the 21st-century prophet Britney Spears cautioned us in one of her most revered anthems, “Lucky,” however, not everything is orange boxes and stylish TikTok videos. (I may have paraphrased Britney’s words a lot. But you get it.)

I then asked Heart if sometimes she feels a little lost in her career during a recent online press launch as the new endorser for RLC Residences.

“I totally get that. Sometimes, I still feel a little lost,” she admits. “Every day, you think about all these things.”

One must remember that the 36-year-old has been in showbiz for over 10 years years. That history filled with movies, soap operas, magazine covers, international contracts, tabloid headlines, and hot-seat interviews isn’t without bumps. “For me, I’ve had a lot of letdowns. Maybe you see me where I am today, but you didn’t really focus on me when it wasn’t where it is today. So you didn’t know what I was going through or my journey.”

You could tell Heart’s learned from the unfiltered moments in her life. When the doubt sets in, Heart says, “You just have to trust yourself that it’s just the way it should be at this very point. For some mysterious reason, all of the “nos” and the “maybes” and the “what ifs” and all of the things that didn’t come your way were actually redirecting you towards a different path. In the end, it’s all going to make sense.”

She expresses that the expectations don’t only come from her fans. “I feel very pressured. What if  I don’t do it as well as the last thing I created; what’s the sense of it?”

With this, Heart shows her maturity and the wisdom she’s gained. When it doesn’t come out perfectly, there’s always a way around it as long as you try again. “If what you’ve done isn’t as good as you wanted, it’s okay. At least you’re moving. Keep moving.”
