BEAUTY REVIEW: Everything you need to know about your first pair of magnetic lashes

When magnetic lashes first entered the makeup scene, I was a bit skeptical. Anything that looks too easy might be too good to be true.

On the other hand, I am responsible as a beauty writer to try something new to give a helpful review. When a set of Nicolash Magnetic Eyelash Extensions showed up at my door, my job was cut out for me.

Upgrading your eyelashes with Nicolash involves two steps. First, you apply the Black Tea-Infused Magnetic Liner. It is advised you do two coats per eyelid and wait 60 seconds for the liner to dry.

Afterward, you click on the lashes. I got a box that contained two pairs in two different styles. There’s Rosie Posey that features thick and dramatic lashes, and Elliesh, which gives more dimension with crisscross hairs.

The liner formula itself isn’t watery and is truly black. It doesn’t run on a humid day or transfer when you blink.

If you’re not used to the dip brush-type eyeliner, the formula is easy to clean with a cotton bud dipped in some eye makeup remover. This is a trick that’s proven to be the easiest way to get even lines for me.

More importantly, the eyeliner doesn’t sting or irritate. On top of that, it is formulated with black tea and aloe. These two ingredients promote hair growth and thickness.

When it comes to the lashes themselves, the magnet hold makes it both effortless to use and long-wearing.

If you misalign a little, you can pop them off and correct them without making a mess. That room for error isn’t something you can do with the traditional falsies you have to glue down. Moreover, since you don’t have to press the lashes for them to stick, you hardly make a mistake. It’s a click and go.

Once you’re set with the lashes, they don’t just come off. I should know because I’ve slept with my Nicolash lashes on. (Not something I advise you to do, or I meant to do, but life happens.) I woke up after a nap with them perfectly in place and sans an eyeliner smudge. Nicolash is sweat-proof and waterproof, so they’re made for daily makeup looks and special occasions alike.

What I also like about Nicolash is how they can easily manipulate your look. One pair with some skin tint, eyebrow gel, and a lip gloss is all you need to seem like you’ve put on a full face of makeup. You have the choice to leave the lashes as is because you can get them precisely on the lash line. I find that it’s best to curl them and apply mascara so they can look more harmonious with your natural lashes.

If you want to go a little extra, you can stack both styles on top of one another. They feel weightless regardless.

Taking them off isn’t a chore. Reach for a cotton bud dipped in some eye makeup remover and run it along with the liner. This way, you don’t just yank the lashes off, causing stress to the thin skin of your eyelids. You also protect the integrity of the lash, prolonging their use.

To clean the lashes of the liner and mascara stuck to them, I like to press it in between a makeup wipe. Brush the hairs with a spoolie before putting them back in the box.

Nicolash can last up to 30 uses per pair. That’s a steal, given the price!

In my experience, Nicolash lives up to the promises of owner Nicola Puno: “Nicolash was formulated to address all the pain points of eyelash-enhancing methods.” She adds, “We wanted it to be as convenient as possible so that you can wear it on any occasion. It’s also paraben-free and GMO-free so that it’s gentle enough for everyday use.”
