What Keann Johnson learned from his first teleserye

As young actor Keann Johnson is cast in his first ever soap opera, “Marry Me, Marry You,” he proudly stated the things he learned from the experience.

“This is my very first teleserye and I learned so much. I am so thankful with this wonderful cast for teaching me so much,” Johnson said during the online press conference for the show last Sept. 2. The series’ star-studded cast is led by Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez, and directed by Dwein Ruedas-Baltazar and Jojo Saguin. It can be viewed from the iWantTFC app, the Kapamilya online platforms, A2Z and TV5 channels, and The Filipino Channel for those outside the country.

For Johnson, the experience is a balance of having a good time and being disciplined.

“One thing I learned is to always have fun,” he said. “Of course, like [what] everyone told the press out there [that] when you’re working you should be professional, always be on time, memorize your lines. It’s your duty as an actor. I think they’re perfectly right.”

But Johnson stressed that “what’s really important is to have fun” because as an actor, it “is not a job” only.

“This is your career. This is something you should be doing not because you’re obligated to do it. It is because you want to do it. You love what you’re doing and you’re passionate about it. And I see that in everyone’s eyes. I really love the energy and [I also get to manifest that] energy,” he said.

Johnson specifically mentioned Edu Manzano and Teresa Loyzaga when asked about his memorable experience in the show.

“Ms. Teresa, first of all, has given me so much wisdom to the point [that] until now I still remember (what she told me) and I will cherish it for the rest of my life,” he said.

“With Mr. Edu, I am jealous of him. You know why? Because [he is so] charismatic,” he gushed. “To the point [that] if I am going to rob something, I am going to rob sir Edu’s charisma.”

“Marry Me, Marry You” also stars Sunshine Dizon, Cherry Pie Picache, Vina Morales and Jake Ejercito in his first teleserye as a Kapamilya. Also in the seasoned cast are Lito Pimentel, Joko Diaz, Jett Pangan, EJ Jallorina, Luis Vera Perez, Fino Herrera, Meanne Espinosa, Mariella Laurel, Adrian Lindayag, and Johnson’s fellow The Squad Plus members Analain Salvador and Angelica Lao.
