‘Before, it was just me’: Chito Miranda believes family gave him ‘deeper purpose in life’

Before he became a husband and father, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda led a happy-go-lucky life. But things changed when he finally had a family with actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig-Miranda.

Miranda acknowledged the fact that family has drastically changed his view about life, as per Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 17, where he shared with fans a family photo.

“One thing I love about having a family is that it gave me a deeper purpose in life. Before, it was just me, and my band, and that was it… and that ‘purpose’ grew old fast once I had everything I wanted,” he said. “Parang wala na akong goal sa mundo kasi nakuha ko na lahat ng gusto ko sa buhay.”

(It was like I have no goal in life anymore because I already got what I wanted from the world.)

But with marriage and children, Miranda realized that having a family changed his priorities.

“I suddenly had something bigger, and more important than myself. Everything became super clear and simple because all I had to do now was focus on doing what’s best for them. Their well-being and happiness became my primary concern above everything else,” he said. “[And] yun yung naging kaligayahan ko sa buhay.” (And that has become my joy in life.)

“I’m not saying that having a family is the only way to have a purpose in life… but I guess having something bigger and more important than yourself, helps,” the rock star explained, encouraging fans to also find their own purpose. JB
