The pandemic wreaked havoc on the lives of many artists including that of singer and Sing-Galing Jukeboss Ronnie Liang, whose singing career took a backseat. But all is not lost for him because he was still able to complete his master’s degree.
“It was during the height of the worldwide pandemic that I enrolled in Philippine Christian University to take my Master’s Degree in Management Major in National Security Administration (MMNSA),” he said in his Instagram page today, Sept. 1, where he also shared his graduation photos.
At that height of the pandemic, Liang, like many other artists, had a hard time booking performances.
“The strict lockdowns halted all our shows and projects, and the entertainment industry was one of the most affected sectors,” he noted. “Like other professionals, most of the artists stayed at home, doing nothing work-related and not earning their usual income pre-pandemic. The crisis became an eye-opener across the industry, and the reality became a hard pill to swallow.”
Liang then decided to serve the Philippine Army as a reservist and took further studies, treating the lockdown as a catalyst for growth.
“Since online education was brought into the light like never before, I saw it as an opportunity to accomplish many things at once and at home,” he said.
Liang feels that if not for the pandemic, he would not have the time to earn his master’s degree.
“I would not be reading all your warmest congratulatory messages,” he added.
Currently, Liang is completing his aviation studies at Pilipinas Space Aviation. JB
