Carla Abellana appealed to the public anew to stop animal cruelty and the dog meat trade.
Abellana reiterated her stance against animal cruelty in an Instagram post yesterday, Sept. 5, where she reposted information and shared photos of a rescued dog named Calvin. The dog appeared to be in poor health.
“ITIGIL NA ANG PAGHULI, PAGKATAY, PAGLUTO AT PAG KAIN NG MGA ASO! Iligal po ito at ito po ay isang KRIMEN,” she said. (Stop the capture, killing, cooking and eating of dogs. That is illegal and it’s a crime.)
Calvin was estimated to be four or five months old only and one of six live dogs rescued yesterday. Calvin appeared to be grimacing in pain as “he was out of breath, soaking wet and overheating when taken out of the sack.”
“He would have suffocated and died in the next few minutes if we came in a few minutes late. He was hooked up on IV and oxygen immediately and we are praying the he recovers,” Abellana’s reposted notes said. “Imagine if Calvin was your beloved pet. How would you feel? Imagine his trauma, his pain and his suffering.”
“Please, let us condemn this horrible act. We need you to help us bust these dog meat traders so no more Calvins will fall victims to these evil deeds,” the report further appealed. “We need you too, our [Filipino] people, to report, to support and donate, so we can push for more arrests and more rescues.”
People who are interested to help can go to Abellana’s page for more details on how to donate. JB
