Maxene Magalona was recently in Tokyo, Japan for vacation, but the trip appeared to be another learning process for the actress and yoga instructress towards self-healing and self-worth.
On Instagram, Magalona posted snaps of her trip, including a trip to a popular Tokyo bakery where she indulged on some doughnuts sans the feeling of guilt.
“This trip is making me realize the importance of learning how to treat yourself without feeling guilty after,” she said in her caption.
She recalled the days when she was a people-pleaser, when she would take care of other people’s needs while neglecting her own. She realized that she was doing this because she felt “unworthy and unlovable.”
“I kept changing who I was to be able to fit in and belong. I got so used to doing things to please others that I eventually lost my sense of self. I became bitter and resentful because I was doing things to gain approval and validation from others which is very exhausting. I don’t blame anyone for this though. I brought this upon myself,” she further said.
But thankfully, that was a thing of the past as now, Magalona makes it a point to “honor myself and everything that I’ve been through — both the good and the bad.”
“I celebrate myself today and everyday because I choose to do the work to heal,” she said. “By the grace of God, I stand firm in the belief that as long as I keep my heart good and my intentions pure, the Universe will always have my back.” EDV
