Watch 50 MMFF films for just P50 each

Iconic films from the past 50 years of the MMFF will once again be shown in selected cinemas nationwide


 

It’s been a little over a hundred years since the advent of Philippine cinema, and for half of that time, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has been part of developing the industry as well as reflecting the social and cultural zeitgeist.

Many of the films that now make up Philippine cinema’s pantheon of greats were entries in the annual film festival. And so for the festival’s 50th anniversary, a special screening featuring 50 of the most iconic films from the past 50 years can once again be seen in selected cinemas nationwide, for tickets that cost only P50.

With the theme “Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta,” the special screening runs from Sept. 25 to Oct. 15 and will feature films of various genres. The chosen films are said to represent the evolution of the local film industry over the decades. The featured films are:

Specific films will be screened at specific cinemas. Follow the Metro Manila Film Festival on social media to be updated on the schedules.

“With the Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta screenings, we will bring some of the most memorable MMFF films back to the big screen for just 50 pesos, allowing both new audiences and long-time fans to experience the magic of those beloved films once again. These films represent the very best of what the MMFF has offered over the past five decades,” said MMDA Acting Chairman and MMFF Overall Concurrent Chairman Atty. Don Artes Artes at the event launch.

In honor of the art of hand-painted movie posters, a special mural featuring movie icons from the past 50 years was also unveiled along Edsa.
