Who knew dicks had beauty standards to live up to?

In a paper published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, Swiss researchers Norma Katharina Ruppen-Greeff MSc and her team wanted to know what makes a good-looking penis. And guess what did? General cosmetic appearance ranked as the first most important aspect (there were seven others,) followed closely by the appearance of pubic hair. Girth ranks higher than penile length (!), if any of you are asking.

105 women in different age groups (with ages ranging from 16 to 20, 25 to 30, and 40 to 45 years old) were asked to answer a questionnaire that had 20 photosets, which they indicate on a 4-point scale just how much they agreed with the statement: “This is a normal (-looking) penis.”

Most women found the dicks normal-looking. This healthy perception is influenced by maturity (the adults were far more accepting) and a higher sexual interest.

The study’s aim isn’t simply to support men’s vanity. Rather, the study seeks to debunk misconceptions about how others perceive penises, specifically those of men with corrected hypospadias—a birth defect where the man’s urethra isn’t in the right place.

And perhaps, this all proves that men can be so insecure down there, they even needed this academic bro talk to help ease them.
