Seasoned artist Francisco M. Verano welcomed patrons, art scholars, fellow artists, students and guests when “Fragmentos,” an exhibit of abstract paintings and sculptures from 1959 up to the present, opened last June 20.

Verano said  the exhibit is a product of putting together fragments of ideas and emotions throughout his career as an artist. “These fragments,” he said, “speak out in visual form.”

The exhibit features his famous sculpture, “Stone Idol,” which won the grand prize in sculpture in the Art Association of the Philippines contest in 1959. It also shows his abstract paintings.

Guests included Angela Cortes of Megaworld Corporation, Reuben Canete of UP Asian Center Museum, former UP College of Home Economics dean  Ma. Lourdes Catral, officers of CreatingSPACE Inc., members of the press, and artist-members of Agos-Kulay Watercolor Society (Adi Baens, Egai Roxas, Jess Abrera), which Verano formerly headed.

The exhibit runs until July 26. Call tel. 9750052/9645951;  log on to www.vmemecontemporary.com or www.franciscoverano.com.
