Jerick Parrone had a mission: to visit 25 countries before turning 25 years old, and share every moment through his blog 25travels.com.
He has long accomplished his goal, having visited over 30 countries across five continents, despite having a full-time job. But that doesn’t mean he has stopped traveling. He still goes on the road whenever he can, and through his blog and Instagram, continues to share his experiences—hoping to inspire the same wanderlust in others.
Jerick Parrone (@25travels), 26, project manager for a digital consultancy agency in Brussels, Belgium, and travel blogger at 25travels.com
Instagram user since: March 2012
Why he took the plunge: I started using Instagram to complement my blog and instantly upload photos. Having Instagram is helpful when you are on the road as it’s easy to snap a photo and share around.
Gadget of choice: iPhone 4s
What you’ll see on his feed: As I’m often on the road, my feed is all about travel—landscapes, architecture, food, nature and people portraits. Most photos are about Europe.
Favorite Instagram subjects: Landscapes, everyday people, graffiti, funny signs
Favorite filter: I prefer photos without any filters as it captures the subject’s real colors. Though, if I use filters, I just apply any of the first five ones.
Favorite Instagram-related apps: So far, I only use Instagram, though I often cross-post my uploads to Foursquare, Twitter and Flickr.
Instagram video—yes or no? Yes, it’s great! I started using it and it’s fun to use. Though it’s annoying that you can only film from the Instagram app.
Instagram pet peeves: Selfies. I don’t understand why some people need to upload photos of them every day.
His five favorite Instagram users:@natgeotravel @matadornetwork @hostelbookers: These accounts have great photos that help in enhancing my wanderlust.
@ivanhenares and @traceylheppner: For travel in the Philippines
