Surfing. Music. Arts. These were the highlights for this year’s eighth annual La Union Surf Break: Soul Surf, held in La Union.
It was conceptualized and planned by Christian Concepcion, Jeff Ortega, Bingo Manahan and Anthony Young, who aimed to throw the biggest music festival in the country, inspired by the likes of Thailand’s “Full Moon” and Bali’s “White Party” festivals.
They wanted to be the first to throw one that would be apart from anything that’s been done in the Philippines.
Unlike any other, this music festival successfully brought in four international acts to a beach set-up. Not only was the event a huge party, it also promoted local tourism.
One of the main events in Souf Surf was the National Surfing Competition, which catered to local surfers across the country who came to compete.
To promote the arts, the organizers had Deejae Paeste, a well-known artist based in San Francisco.
Local artists and bands performed in this two-day event alongside international acts.
Aside from all the entertainment, Manila Pop-Up and Manila Food Trucks catered to festival goers, without compromising the freshness and quality of great food. Organized by Erwan Huessaff and Mike Concepcion, all the different food trucks kept everyone satisfied with the different types of food.
