It’s no secret that Paris Hilton loves music—her songs “Stars Are Blind” and “Nothing in This World,” both released in 2006, remain fan favorites.
Late last year, she released the single “Good Time,” a dance track that features rapper Lil Wayne. “I love Lil Wayne, he’s so talented and he’s such a sweet person. He’s so inspiring to be around and I had so much fun working with him,” she said at a press conference last Thursday.
Paris has returned to the recording studio to work on a new album, having recorded 20 tracks so far. “I’ve been in Miami the past weeks finishing up the album. I’m so excited for everyone to hear it. We’ve worked very hard on it. I wrote every song on the album. The music is so much fun and people are really gonna enjoy it.”
The heiress has also launched her career as a DJ, training with Dave Garnish, the British engineer, producer and DJ/promoter who runs Garnish Music Production schools in London and Hollywood. “We’ve been working together the past couple of years. He has really taught me a lot,” she said.
Paris, who arrived in Manila last Monday, thinks her new profession was a natural next step. “I love music, it’s something I really enjoy. I love to have fun, I love clubbing. When I got offered to be a DJ and travel around the world and do huge concerts, it seemed like a perfect thing to do.”
Ibiza DJ
Paris has played numerous gigs, spending two months in Ibiza last year as the resident DJ at Amnesia, “playing for 10,000 people a night.” She was such a hit that Amnesia has reportedly renewed her contract for this year. An Atlantic City casino has also signed her as a resident DJ. She has played gigs in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Macau, and at P. Diddy’s pre-Grammys party and at an Oscars party.
Paris said: “I love getting to do my business meetings, my appearances, my work in the daytime, and then at night, I get to celebrate with all my fans and play good music. It’s pretty awesome.”
That’s exactly what she did on Thursday night. She surprised the guests at the Azure beach party by spinning. And she did it free of charge—when she usually gets paid up to $100,000 per performance. The party was held to celebrate the launch of the Paris Beach Club, the three-level clubhouse she designed with Century Properties for the developer’s Azure Urban Resort Residences in Parañaque.
John Victor “Jigger” Antonio, Century Properties chief operating officer, told Inquirer Lifestyle hours before the party: “Paris is gonna DJ later. She said: ‘I’m gonna do this because I’m so proud…’ She was blown away. She could not believe how much more beautiful the Paris Beach Club was in reality. We worked on the design via CGI. She was super hands-on. Every room here was designed by her.”
Lifestyle spoke to Paris minutes before the party, and she said: “I’m really excited to be playing. This is my property so it’s important that I do a surprise performance for everyone who lives here. I put together a really fun set of cool songs; I’m playing a remix by Bruno Mars, some Michael Jackson and Calvin Harris and some Tiesto. It will be fun.”
Party guests enjoyed her mixes, with Andi Manzano-Reyes posting a video of Paris DJing on Instagram and adding the caption “@ParisHilton is #killingit!”
Paris said: “We’ll have one party tonight but there’s gonna be more. I look forward to visiting all the time and having parties here.” Pam Pastor

#INQBack is Internet rage
The March 13 #INQBack item on Twitter gained several RTs and “favorites” from netizens, including that from @theneeds_news, a US-based social site dedicated to news on politics, economy and technology.
The Inquirer’s version of #ThrowbackThursday, #INQBack, was first used in February to launch the paper’s series of articles for the 28th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution. The hashtag #INQBack is used to label postings sourced from the Inquirer archives, such as vintage photos, groundbreaking interviews and the front page of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
